The Best of France: France Road Trip Part 2

The beautiful Biarritz.

Bonjour! If you missed Part 1 of my Best of France Road Trip you can check it out HERE! In Part 2 I go through my top 5 favorites from my two week road trip to France. From surfing towns to impressionist painters to war memorials we have quite a variety here in Best of France: France Road Trip Part Two!

5. O Wine O'Clock

This fun wine bar in downtown Bordeaux France had large glasses of wine, outstanding tunes and surfer documentaries on, homemade appetizers that were exquisite, and a kindness and energy from the staff that is hard to find!

4. Libourne French Market

This beautiful small town in Southwestern France features an open air market every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday.
From fresh baked bread to amazing seafoods, fruits, and cheeses to soaps and household items this is a true "Farmer's Market."

3. D-Day Memorial Site and Cemetery /Omaha Beach in Normandy France

It was a very humbling, sad, and large learning experience spending the day walking these grounds.  Being in awe for what these soldiers sacrificed, amazed at what transpired during WWII and a hope that war like this will never happens again, and to just about every emotion in between.
Words are hard to put down on what it felt like to be here.  I would recommend no matter your viewpoints on war this is a trip into the past that must be examined, honored, and learned from in hopes of us being better and smarter as a world population in the future.
Normandy does an incredible job putting these sites together.

2. Claude Monet's Home and Botanical Garden

The famous impressionist painters home and botanical garden can be toured in the small town of Giverny, France.  It was a truly inspiring place to see.  I felt as though Claude's home gave me the biggest kick of inspiration towards being a lifelong writer that I have ever had.
It is a must for any creator to go witness and see first hard what this man created over a lifetime of work.  And the botanical garden is serene, peaceful, and beautiful to boot!

1. Biarritz, France

I fell in love with sleepy surfer town in SW France.
The people were wonderful, the markets and food were top notch, and the runs I got to experience were second to none.
I would love to spend a summer here working, writing, adventuring, cooking, practicing yoga, volunteering, and surfing...it would be a dream come true!

Sante!

France had so much to offer and it really was the trip of a lifetime.  I hope this top 10 showed you that there's a lot more to France than the Eiffel Tower and French Fries.  Get your trip booked!
