Five day hikes in California’s Redwoods National and State Parks
In this article I share my favorite hikes from my trip to Redwood National Park and the surrounding area in Humboldt County!
It's an amazing place, about six hours north of San Fran, and it houses the biggest trees and (Elk) in the world.
Milkshakes at the Avenue Cafe are always recommended prior to hiking!
Here are my Five Favorite Hikes in the Redwoods Region of Northern California:
Hike One: The Founders Grove in Humboldt Redwoods State Park gives you a TON of bang for your buck. Some of the biggest redwoods in the world are actually here and not the national park.
Hike Two: Rockefeller Grove in the same state park has some GIANTS too. Both of these are easy and flat loops!
Hike Three: On the way into Redwood National Park you are going to run into the Pacific Ocean. Beach hiking is always a good idea.
Hike Four: Lady Bird Johnson Grove in Redwood NP. Give a tree a BIG HUG when you are there!
Hike Five: Redwood NP is surrounded and weaves in and out of some amazing state parks. Hit some of the groves in Prairie Creeks Redwoods State Park.
What else should I do when near the Redwoods in Northern California?
Finish off your day of hiking with a tasty cold one if you partake, or great food, at Lost Coast Brewery in Eureka.
Explore some of the trails near the college in Humboldt!
Stay at "Lulu's House" on AirBnB. We had a wonderful time in this coastal town!
Hope you get outside on the big tree trails soon!
